Once a deep-rooted passion for breeding and tending to Arabian horses takes hold, it can stay with you for the rest of your life. And because life is always in session on many fronts there can be a few sabbaticals along the way. This is the experience of the great Brazilian breeder Marcos Tinoco of Haras Dharamsala. His first Arabian foals were registered in the late 1980s, yet the current phase of the program is just ten years old.
Most successful breeding programs are based on well thought-out dam lines, and at Haras Dharamsala the contribution from Haras Meia Lua in the form of the dazzling broodmare Elle Dorada, a daughter of legendary Polish show and breeding mare *El Dorada (Sanadik El Shaklan x Emigrantka). Elle Dorada’s son Ektor Meia Lua, sired by El Jahez WH, fits beautifully into Marcos’s modern-day program. The Arabian Horse World “Aristocrat Mare” Veronica GA has 15 champion offspring to her credit including the Gazal Al Shaqab son, SF Veraz, owned by Haras Dharamsala. Lastly, it is Ariela Arabians’ mare Baraaqa AA that is the third of these three foundation mares. She is a daughter of Laheeb, a granddaughter of The Vision HG, and dam of Sahara Scottsdale’s Baha AA. At Haras Dharamsala she is the dam of its current straight Egyptian stallion, Barak T, by Shams Sharav AA. These three current day, at-home sires, descended from dynamic mares. Many Arabian breeders will tell you this is a must when keeping, buying or choosing sires.

Haras Dharamsala is devoted to the joy of breeding classic, majestic beauty.
Marcos Tinoco is a passionate man whose artistry places him in the center of one beautiful moment after another, like an architect and orchestrator of these soul-filling respites. On another note, when asked about the meaning behind “Haras Dharamsala,” he cited the city in India of the same name, and home of the Dalai Lama. It makes one realize how true to himself he is, and that harmony, beauty and goodness matter very much to him. Even his selection of horses reflects these three elements.
Enter Wakil Aljassimya…like Dharamsala’s choice of three treasured dam lines, having a stallion such as Wakil enter the breeding program also makes sense. Wakil Aljassimya was bred by the Aljassimya Farm in California and is owned by Sheikh Jassim Bin Khalifa Al Thani. Their lease of the legendary breeding stallion WH Justice provided them a remarkable first layer of fine breeding and show stock. The Aljassimya-bred Justice get have yet to disappoint. It was not too long after WH Justice departed America for his homeland in Western Europe that a second important sire arrived from the holy lands of Israel. We are speaking of the prince of peace, the alabaster white Al Ayal AA. These two genetic giants, along with a powerful Wayne Newton-bred tail female line tracing to the early Spanish import *Oromana, contributed to Wakil’s immense beauty. Dharamsala exemplifies this great level of beauty.
Wakil Aljassimya
Marcos will tell you that for sometime now he has been looking for an elegant grey stallion with an exotic look that would add another layer of intense beauty. He wanted this stallion to have a lot of Egyptian blood as well as lines to WH Justice. He is certain that Wakil is his answer in the flesh and a perfect answer at that. “The first thing that caught our attention when considering Wakil was his beauty, I love this horse,” Marcos says. “Wakil is also very correct and tall with excellent tail carriage and loads of charisma. His pedigree is filled with some important and stunning horses like Al Ayal AA and his sire Al Ayad, Thee Desperado, WH Justice and Padrons Psyche. Also present is his gorgeous dam WN Johara Aljassimya and the legendary black mare The Vision HG.”
While Wakil is finishing out his lease in Spain with Philip Looyens and Antonia Bautista, Marcos leased two exquisite mares from Johanna Ullstrom to breed to Wakil. That is for certain a new owner’s expression of support and love.
Soon Wakil Aljassimya will be home at Haras Dharamsala, in the heart of Brazil, where glorious mares await his arrival.
